Regulations and Fees for the disposal of waste at the Stonington Solid Waste Facility
Fees:
w Brush: Residential - $0/Ton, Commercial - $60/Ton
w Bulky Waste/Construction and Demolition Debris - $100/Ton
w Large Bulky Items (i.e. couch, recliner, mattress) - $10 Each
w Large Appliances - $10 Each
w Large Appliances with Freon - $20 Each
w Tires: Auto - $3 each, Large Truck - $7 Each, Large Equipment - $40 Each
w Propane Tanks - Less than 10 lbs., $1; 20lbs., $3; Over 20 lbs., $40
General Regulations:
w Residents will not be allowed to charge any amount under $20.00. Residents must establish a charge account through the Solid Waste Office prior to disposing of the waste.
w Accounts over 30 days past due will accrue interest at 1.5% per month.
w Accounts with a balance over 90 days will be suspended and access to the facility will be denied until the balance is paid in full.
w All Residential Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) must be in a "yellow" Town of Stonington bag.
The following item is no longer accepted at the Solid Waste Facility:
w Stumps
Discarded carpet must be in pieces no larger than 4' x 4'.
