Notice to public regarding partial closure of Isham Street boat ramp

-A A +A

Due to the declining condition of the Isham Street boat ramp on the Mystic River, the ramp has been temporarily closed to trailered boat traffic.  The conditions are such that the Board of Selectmen has been advised by the Town’s insurance carrier, that use of the ramp in its current state should be limited to “roof top boats”, i.e. canoes, kayaks and the like, to avoid possible damage to vehicles and persons while loading and unloading trailered boats.

An assessment of the ramp is currently being determined by the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) along with the Town of Stonington.  This closure will remain in effect until the determination is made by DEEP on the course of action to bring the ramp back to a safe and usable condition.

We apologize for limiting access to the Mystic River, especially during these summer months, but this partial closure was instituted to prevent injury coming to Stonington residents and other users of the ramp.
