GIS Fees

ORDINANCE RE:  GIS FEE
 
WHEREAS, the Connecticut General Statutes 7-148s permits municipalities to impose a reasonable fee for the use of their geographical information system; and
 
WHEREAS, over the past several years the Town of Stonington has created such a system; and
 
WHEREAS, this system provides an opportunity for the Public to obtain complex sets of data from the Town at a cost less than would be incurred by gathering the data separately; and
 
WHEREAS, significant Town resources are involved in assembling the data in response to such request, including but not limited to staff time and expertise; and the acquisition of specialized equipment, such as large format printers, copiers and plotters; and supplies such as paper, computer disks, tapes, CD’s, ink, toner and plotter pens.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE LEGAL VOTERS OF THE TOWN OF STONINGTON IN LAWFUL TOWN MEETING DULY ASSEMBLED THT THE FOLLOWING ORDINANCE BE ESTABLISHED:
 
The fees contained on the matrix listed shall be charged for the GIS data which shall be amended, from time to time, by the Board of Selectmen.  Payment shall be required before any such data is transmitted to the requesting party.  Information requested in a CD format requires such requester to sign a license agreement with the Town.
 
This Ordinance shall become effective fifteen days after publication in a newspaper having a general circulation within the Town.
