Night Club Closing Time

BE IT RESOLVED THAT,

WHEREAS, the consumption of alcoholic liquor during extended early morning hours has resulted in disturbance of the peace, injury to persons and damage to public and private property, and

WHEREAS, Public Act 79-272, An Act Concerning Night Club Permits empowers towns to make ordinances reducing the number of hours during which sales of alcoholic liquor shall be permissible,

NOW THEREFORE:

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE LEGAL VOTERS OF THE TOWN OF STONINGTON IN LAWFUL SPECIAL TOWN MEETING DULY ASSEMBLED THAT THE FOLLOWING ORDINANCE BE ESTABLISHED BY THE TOWN OF STONINGTON.

1.  The sale or dispensing or consumption or the presence in glasses or other receptacles suitable to permit the consumption of liquor by an individual of alcoholic liquor in places operating under night club permits is not permitted during the hour immediately following the closing time on Saturdays and Sundays established under said Section 30-91 for the other permits listed in Section 30-21a of the Connecticut General Statutes as amended and on the days allowed under such other permits.

2.  Except as set forth above in Section 1, the sale or the dispensing or consumption or the presence in glasses or other receptacles suitable to permit the consumption of liquor by an individual shall be in accordance with the hours and days set forth in said Section 30-91 of the Connecticut General Statutes as amended.

3.  This ordinance shall become effective on the first day of the month succeeding adoption by a Town Meeting, but not less than fifteen (15) days after due publication.
