STREETS, ROADS & EASEMENTS, ACCEPTANCE OF

ORDINANCE RE: ACCEPTANCE OF STREETS, ROADS & EASEMENTS  

BE ITORDAINED BY THE LEGAL VOTERS OF THE TOWN OF STONINGTON    IN LAWFUL MEETING DULY ASSEMBLED: That:

Section 1.      Pursuant to the authority granted in Connecticut General Statutes, Section 13a-48, the Town of Stonington acting herein, at town meeting duly called and authorized, hereby delegates the power to accept public highways and roads to the Board of Selectmen.

Section 2.      The Board of Selectmen are further authorized to accept easements, including but not limited to visual, pedestrian, rights of way, drainage and open space.

Section 3.      Easements previously accepted by Town Meeting and easements hereafter by the Board of Selectmen shall not be modified or transferred without town meeting approval.  Technical corrections are exempt from this Section.

Section 4.      All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with this Ordinance are hereby repealed.

Section 5.      This ordinance shall become effective (15) fifteen days after publication in a newspaper having a circulation in the Town of Stonington.
