VOTING DISTRICT BOUNDARIES

ACT RE:  VOTING DISTRICT BOUNDARIES

BE IT ENACTED BY THE SENATE AND HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES IN GENERAL ASSEMBLY CONVENED:

Section 1.  That the Town of Stonington is hereby, and shall hereafter, be divided into five (5) voting districts, and neither the number nor the boundaries thereof shall be changed except by Ordinance approved by a majority of the electors voting thereon at a Regular Town Election.  No such change shall be made within one hundred eighty (180) days prior to an Election. The voting districts are in said Town, as follows, viz., so much of said Town as is included within the following boundaries to wit:

all that partof the Town lying west of the second district, and south of the third district to the aforesaid stone bridge, at or near the head of Quiambaug Cove, and east of said Cove, shall be and remain the first district and

all that part of the Town lying easterly of the first district, and of a line running southerly from the southeast corner of said third district, at the point where said road from Anguilla intersects the highway leading from Stonington Borough to Pawcatuck bridge to a point ten feet (10 ft.) west of a dwelling house owned by Nathan Baldwin and sister, and thence southerly to a point ten feet (10 ft.) east of a dwelling house owned by the heirs of Dr. George E. Palmer, deceased, and thence due south to the salt water, shall be and remain the second district and all that part bounded by a line commencing at the boundary line between Stonington and North Stonington, due north of a point ten feet (10 ft.) east of the dwelling house of Benjamin B. Hewitt, running south to said point, and then nearly southwesterly to a point ten feet (10 ft.) east of the dwelling house of Rufus Hill, and thence southerly to a point ten feet (10 ft.) west of the dwelling house of Denison Maine, and thence southerly to a point ten feet (10 ft.) west of the dwelling house of Benjamin F. Stanton, 2nd and brother, and thence southerly to the highway leading from Mystic to Stonington Borough, passing ten feet (10 ft.) west of the dwelling house of Randall Brown, thence easterly by and with said highway to Mistuxet Brook, and thence southerly by and with said Brook to a stone bridge over it, at or near the head of Quiambaug Cove, and thence easterly to a point ten feet (10 ft.) north of a dwelling house belonging to Charles P. Williams, and thence easterly to a point ten (10) rods south of Smith's mill, and thence easterly to a point ten feet (10 ft.) southerly of the dwelling house of Jesse Y. Hull, and thence easterly to a point ten feet (10 ft.) northerly of the dwelling house of Joseph Thompson, and thence easterly to the point where the road from Anguilla intersects the highway leading from Stonington Borough to Pawcatuck bridge, and thence northerly by said road to the north side of the Old Post Road, and thence northwesterly passing ten feet (10 ft.) east of the dwelling house of Gideon P. Chesebrough to Anguilla or Breed Brook, thence in a northerly direction, following said Anguilla or Breed Brook, and its east main branch to the North Stonington line, and thence westerly by and with said line to the point of beginning, shall be and remain the third district and

all that part ofthe Town lying west of the third and first districts, and south of a point of said third district, and of a line running southwesterly from the aforesaid point west of the dwelling house of Joseph Wheeler, and thence due west to Mystic River, shall be and remain the fourth district and all that part of the Town not included in the first, second, third and fourth districts, shall be and remain the fifth district.

The return of votes cast in the several districts of said Town shall be made to the Moderator of said district one.
