Waste Day

Household hazardous waste may be taken to the Smith Trash & Recycling Station located on 123 Main Street from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the following day:
- Saturday July 20th, 2020vbvbvb
Note: Preregistration is required through the Health Department (123) 275-6507.
Do Not Bring the Following Items
- Water based paint such as latex or acrylic are NOT hazardous and can be dried up by pouring into a shallow box and adding kitty litter. When dry, take it to the Transfer Station and dispose as trash.
- Rechargeable batteries are collected at the Transfer Station/Recycling Center so they are not collected at the very expensive HHW Collection.
- Alkaline batteries are not hazardous and can be disposed as trash.
- Used motor oil is collected at the Transfer Station/Recycling Center so it is not collected at the very expensive HHW Collection.
- Fluorescent tubes and bulbs are collected at the Transfer Station/Recycling Center so they are not collected at the very expensive HHW Collection.
- Mercury-containing devices such as thermometers, thermostats, button batteries, etc. These are collected regularly at the Recyclng Center.
- Unwanted medicines are collected at the Police Station’s medicine lock box and are not accepted for waste collection.
- Medical waste is not accepted for HHW collection
