Includes updates on local testing option
spread

Thank you for taking the time to review the below message.

Vaccination remains the most important defense against illness and hospitalization from COVID-19.  See vaccine resources here.

Testing is another way to help curb the spread, and we are so grateful to our partners that Stonington is able to provide free, weekly testing. Every Thursday from 3-6pm there is a drive thru site at Stonington Human Services. There are also numerous other sites in our region for testing. See more here. You can also now order free test kits to your home using this site. If you live in an apartment or multi-family you may want to USPS ZIP code lookup tool to find out how your residence is listed. Also, most people with a health plan can go online, or to a pharmacy/store to purchase an at-home over-the-counter COVID-19 diagnostic test at no cost, either through reimbursement or free of charge through their insurance. Be sure to keep your receipt if you need to submit a claim to your insurance company for reimbursement. We also have tests available for pick-up at Stoningotn Human Services, during normal buisness hours.

The CDC has created a new matrix, which will inform CDC recommendations on prevention measures, such as masking and testing. This new approach focuses on preventing hospitals and health care system from being overwhelmed. It also offers direction for prevention efforts to protect people at high risk for severe illness. You can visit the page here.

New London county, along with all other Connecticut counties—except for Middlesex County—are listed in the Low/Green category. It’s important to note that people with symptoms or exposure to someone with COVID-19 should wear a mask.

As we have always done, we will continue to look at the data and base any changes on the data as well as the guidance from health officials. Please reach out to us with concerns, questions or feedback.

Thank you Stonington.
