Snow Storm Update

Monday Town Meeting + Tuesday Board of Finance Meeting Scheduled as Planned
Snow Update

This morning we met with our Emergency Management team, including representatives from Stonington Public Schools, Department of Public Works, and Police, to discuss the pending snow storm.

Based on these discussions, along with input we are receiving from the CT Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, we plan to hold the Town Meeting (Monday evening) and Board of Finance meeting (Tuesday evening) as planned.

Please know, Town Hall, the Transfer Station and Human Services will have two hour delay, and should open at 10:30am. If this time changes, we will post an update by 8am Tuesday morning. Please join us in thanking the Department of Public Works who will be out working throughout the night, along with the team at the Stonington Police Department.

We will continue to closely monitor this approaching winter storm and will update plans as needed.

Current Forecast (as of 5pm Monday, Feb 27):

Monday evening: Moderate snow is expected to move into western CT around 8:00 PM and spread across the state, the snowfall intensity is expected to increase from moderate to heavy at times by 10:00 PM. Roads are expected to become snow covered by late evening with a moderate impact on travel as snow, heavy at times continues overnight. Lows are forecasted around the low 30’s along the coast where some sleet and freezing rain may mix in at times along the I-95 corridor.

Tuesday Morning: The snow is forecast to begin tapering down between 4:00 –6:00 AM. However, much of the overnight snowfall will likely still be on many roads causing a moderate impact on the morning rush hour. Light to occasionally moderate snow is expected to continue at times for most of the afternoon with a few inches of additional accumulation possible, or this could turn to rain by afternoon along the coast.

Thank you Stonington.
