NOTICE OF SPECIAL TOWN MEETING
SEPTEMBER 27, 2021
 

The Special Town Meeting of the electors and citizens qualified to vote in Town Meetings of the Town of Stonington, Connecticut, will be held at Stonington Public Schools District Office (Former Pawcatuck Middle School), 40 Field St., Pawcatuck, CT 06379 on Monday, September 27, 2021 at 7:00 p.m.

To consider, discuss, and vote upon the following:

A resolution to adopt an Ordinance of the Town of Stonington, Connecticut, prohibiting the establishment of a Cannabis Establishment within the Town Limits. A copy of the complete text of the proposed Ordinance is on file in the Town Clerk’s office during normal business hours and available on the Town’s website at www.stonington-ct.gov.

At this hearing electors and residents may appear and be heard.

NOTICE OF REFERENDUM/ADJOURNED SPECIAL TOWN MEETING
OCTOBER 5, 2021

 

The referendum for the electors and citizens qualified to vote in Town Meetings of the Town of Stonington on the first item of the warning of the Special Town meeting called for Monday, September 27, 2021 will be held on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the following voting places:

FIRST AND THIRD DISTRICT         Stonington Fire House, 100 Main St., Stonington
SECOND DISTRICT                         Former Pawcatuck Middle School, 40 Field St., Pawcatuck
FOURTH AND FIFTH DISTRICT     B.F. Hoxie Fire House, 34 Broadway Ave., Mystic
 

The referendum will be held pursuant to the provisions of Section 7-7 of the General Statutes of Connecticut.

Persons, not electors of the Town of Stonington, being citizens of the United States, age 18 years or older, jointly or severally liable to the Town of Stonington for taxes on an assessment of not less than $1000 on the last completed grand list, desiring to vote pursuant to the provision of Section 7-6 of the General Statutes of Connecticut, shall vote in the First Voting District at the Stonington Fire Station, 100 Main St., Stonington. Absentee ballots will be available from the Town Clerk’s office during normal business hours beginning on Monday, September 13, 2021.

The first item on the Special Town Meeting called for Monday, September 27, 2021 set forth in the warning of said meeting is as follows:

A resolution to adopt an Ordinance of the Town of Stonington, Connecticut, prohibiting the establishment of a Cannabis Establishment within the Town Limits. A copy of the complete text of the proposed Ordinance is on file in the Town Clerk’s office during normal business hours and available on the Town’s website at www.stonington-ct.gov.

“SHALL THE TOWN OF STONINGTON ADOPT AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A CANNABIS ESTABLISHMENT WITHIN THE TOWN LIMITS?”

Those voting to prohibit a cannabis establishment will vote “YES”.
Those voting to allow a cannabis establishment will vote “NO”.
 
The Monday, September 27, 2021 Special Town Meeting will then reconvene at Stonington Town Hall on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at 8:30 p.m. to consider and record the vote.
