Stonington Public Schools- Announcement

sps

Our partners at Stonington Public Schools are facing challenges that many schools around our State and Country are facing. Due to the high transmission of COVID at this time, they are facing staffing challenges both within the school and with bus transportation. Even with the high number of staff and drivers still out, they worked as a team to find a way to get the children in our community back to school tomorrow (Wednesday November 5, 2022).

In order to make this work they have had to re-work the bus routes drastically and we want to be sure all families are aware of the new routes in place at this time. When possible, the schools are asking for children to be driven to and from school. Please be sure you have checked for the announcement both from the SPS District Office, and each child's specific school administrator for details on how this temporary transportation will work.

We thank everyone in the community for their patience and understanding. We are hopeful that this time of high community transition will come down and in the meantime ask that we all do what we can to support eachother.

For anyone who is able, both Stonington Public Schools and Student First (bus transportation company) are hiring. SPS is in need of substitute teachers, both temporary and longer-term. If you may be able to help please find more information here.  For information on bus driver hiring please see here.
