Help us Honor our Veterans

As many of you know the Town of Stonington has been working with the VFW 1265 Harley P Chase Post, Pawcatuck to create a Monument to honor the service of all military Veterans who have served our country from the Town of Stonington. 

To date, we have raised over $60,000 thanks to the efforts of a small group of volunteers, lead by Town Hall staff member Stacey Haskell. The generosity of the community has been wonderful, and we hope to continue to count on that generosity over the coming weeks. We have two exciting opportunities to further support this meaningful project.

Wednesday November 24th: Join us at Saltwater Farm Vineyard 5-7:30. We will have a number of exciting raffle items donated by local businesses to help us raise funds for the Veterans Monument. The vineyard has kindly let us join their existing event, which will feature music by Dan Watson. Please consider coming by and please know you do not need to be present at the end of the event in order to win a raffle item. 

Special Experience Raffle: Come to, or call, Town Hall to enter for a chance to win one of three exciting experiences kindly donated to support the Monument. Cash, check or credit cards are accepted and the raffle tickets can be purchased November 24- December 16th, with the winners drawn at 12pm on Friday December 17th. The three experiences are: 

• Overnight stay for two at Ocean House, with breakfast ($900 value)
• Flight for two to Block Island and a dinner at Winfields or the Yellow Kittens ($350 value)
• Overnight stay for two at the Whalers Inn, with a credit at the Shipwrights Daughter ($350 value)

About the Project

The monument will include the names of all Stonington residents who served our country since WWI, over 7,000 individuals. With new technology developed, residents and visitors can use smart phones or computers to read through the names of all Veterans. The Monument will be located on the Stonington Police Station grounds. The monument will cost approximately $180,000. Read more about the project here.
