State Updates

The State of CT has issued a “Stay Safe, Stay at Home” policy to stop the spread of COVID-19, asking all residents to stay home whenever possible. All social and recreational gatherings of more than 5 people are prohibited.

When out of your home, it is key to maintain 6 feet of social distance and masks should be worn. Any person traveling into Connecticut is strongly urged to self-quarantine for 14 days. All state COVID updates can be found here.

Classes at all public schools are canceled through at least May 20.

Members of the public, businesses, and philanthropic organizations that are able to donate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – protective clothing, helmets, goggles, or other garments or equipment designed to protect the wearer’s body from injury or infection- are urged to contact the State by filling out the online form found here.

Local Openings and Closings

The Town Hall, Human Services and Public Works Garage remain closed to the public, but for now plan to stay actively working, so please call or email, as there are many options for continuing to serve residents. Please understand we are taking these precautions to limit our staff’s exposure, so we can remain effective to residents over the coming weeks.

The transfer station will be open by appointment only. Please call Monday-Friday 9am-12pm to make your appointment. For details please see here. As a reminder, staff will not be able to assist individuals. We ask you respect social distancing recommendations at the transfer station to protect both yourself, and our team of workers. Trash and recycling pick-up should remain as usual. Please be sure yellow bags are properly sealed to prevent contamination to the sanitation workers.

All police, fire and EMS services will continue to operate. The sewers have protocols established as well. Please know we have procedures in place for various scenarios and we will strive to serve residents to the best of our abilities.

All town non-essential town meetings and events have been postponed. Please check our town website as the situation is constantly evolving and changes may occur quickly.

All town playgrounds are closed, as well as the facilities at Spellman Park – including the tennis courts, basketball courts and turf field. This does NOT include the hiking trails, which remain open.

The state has ordered all businesses deemed “non-essential” to close. A list of businesses deemed essential can be found here, as well as the form to request a change in status.
