Stonington Communication Channels

Comm Image

Our municipal government, consisting of staff, elected officials and volunteers, use a diverse range of communication channels to share information. In 2020, the Board of Selectmen appointed members of the Public Communications Ad Hoc Committee with the objective to help improve communication with residents on municipal matters. The Committee, working in partnership with the First Selectman, created this new segment of the website and the materials found below and attached.

Below is a summary of the key ways we provide information, and a detailed inventory can also be found attached at the bottom of this page. We have already created a new Communication Strategy, which we welcome feedback on and can also be found attached below.

As part of our ongoing work to continue to improve, we asked people to take a few minutes to fill out a Communication Survey over the summer of 2021. A summary of the survey results can be found below.

Town Website: www.stonington-ct.gov

The website includes timely news updates, a calendar with all official meetings, information related to specific departments, as well as Boards and Commissions. There is also a Selectman’s Blog, a sign-up for email alerts for both Board and Commission agendas and minutes, as well as Emergency Alerts.

In addition to the main Town website, the following website are also available:

Social Media- The First Selectman’s office, Human Services, and Police, as well as various Boards use social media as a means for communication. To see links to these FaceBook and Instagram pages please see the list attached below. The Town's YouTube page is an excellent resource for viewing past meetings, as well as videos complied by both the Town's EDC and our Community Connections video series.

Quarterly Magazine: A print magazine that is mailed to all residents each Quarter. It offers an overview of town resources, events, programs, and general town updates. The magazine features short articles and advertisements for the community. The current version can be found on the Town website here.

The Town of Stonington also wants to ensure it is offering a two way dialogue, so please reach out with ideas, questions, or concerns. Please contact the First Selectman’s office at (860) 535-5050. We want to hear from you.
