CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS


ORDINANCE RE:   WAIVING OF PERMIT FEE FOR CHARITABLE OR QUALIFIED NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE LEGAL VOTERS OF THE TOWN OF STONINGTON IN LAWFUL TOWN MEETING DULY ASSEMBLED, THAT THE FOLLOWING ORDINANCE BE ESTABLISHED BY THE TOWN OF STONINGTON:

Any application fee and/or permit fee required to be filed pursuant to any rule or regulation of any agency or board of the Town of Stonington including, but not limited to, land use boards and commissions may be waived by the Board of Selectmen at any regular meeting of such board on behalf of any charitable or qualified non-profit organization.

1.1     CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION - means any person who is or holds himself out to be established for any benevolent, educational, philanthropic, human, environmental, conservation, civic or eleemosynary purpose, or for the benefit of law enforcement officers, firefighters or other persons who protect the public safety.

1.2     PERSON - means any individual, corporation, association, partnership, trust, foundation or any other entity however styled.

1.3     QUALIFIED NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION - means any private, non-profit organization qualified under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as the same may be amended from time to time, other than a health care institution or institution for higher education.

This ordinance shall become effective fifteen (15) days after publication in a newspaper having circulation in the Town of Stonington.
