ORDINANCE RE:  ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE LEGAL VOTERS OF THE TOWN OF STONINGTON IN LAWFUL TOWN MEETING DULY ASSEMBLED:

Section 1.  The Town of Stonington hereby accepts the provisions of Section 7-136 of the General Statutes of the State of Connecticut and establishes hereby an Economic Development Commission.

Section 2.  The purpose of said Commission shall be the promotion and development of the business and industrial resources of the Town of Stonington and for that purpose said Commission shall have all the rights, powers, duties and obligations confirmed and implied by Section 7-136 of the General Statutes.

Section 3.  Said Commission shall consist of nine (9) members and three (3) alternate members appointed by the Board of Selectmen of the Town of Stonington.  One (1) alternate member of said Commission shall be appointed for a term of one (1) year; one (1) alternate member shall be appointed for a term of two (2) years; and one (1) alternate member shall be appointed for a term of three (3) years.  The term of each alternate member shall begin on the first Tuesday of April, 1987 and on the first Tuesday of April, 1988 and annually thereafter, alternate members shall be appointed for a term of three (3) years from the date of appointment and until his successor is appointed and qualified.  Regular members shall be appointed for a term of five (5) years from the date of appointment and until his successor is appointed and qualified.
