UNIFORM FISCAL YEAR

ORDINANCE RE:  UNIFORM FISCAL YEAR

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGAL VOTERS OF THE TOWN OF STONINGTON IN LAWFUL TOWN MEETING DULY ASSEMBLED:

a.      That the Town of Stonington agrees to comply with the provisions of Chapter 110 of the General Statutes of Connecticut, revision of 1958, as amended, and hereby adopts a new fiscal year known as the "uniform fiscal year" to run from July 1 to June 30 in each year, commencing July 1, 1978.

That the fiscal period which commences August 1, 1977 shall end on June 30, 1978.

b.      That the annual budget meeting for the fiscal year commencing July 1, 1986 and for all subsequent fiscal years shall be held no later than the third Monday in May of each year preceding the commencement of the fiscal year.

c.      That taxes for fiscal years commencing on and after July 1, 1978 shall be payable in two (2) installments, one-half on July 1, and one-half on January 1 in each fiscal year except that any tax not in excess of fifty dollars ($50.00) and any tax as it applies to motor vehicles shall be due and payable in a single installment.

That the Town Clerk is authorized and directed to file with the Tax Commissioner a certificate of the vote on this resolution.

       This ordinance as amended shall go into effect fifteen (15) days after publication in a newspaper having circulation in the Town of Stonington.
