WATER POLLUTION CONTROL AUTHORITY

ORDINANCE RE:  WATER POLLUTION CONTROL AUTHORITY

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGAL VOTERS OF THE TOWN OF STONINGTON IN LAWFUL TOWN MEETING DULY ASSEMBLED:

1.      There shall be and is hereby created a Commission to be designated as the Water Pollution Control Authority of the Town, under the provisions of Chapter 33 of the 1955 supplement to the Connecticut General Statutes, and amended by Public Act No. 78-154, and any amendments thereto, which the Water Pollution Control Authority shall have all the powers conferred and granted to water pollution authorities of the State of Connecticut.

2.      The Water Pollution Control Authority shall be composed of five (5) electors of the Town, who shall be appointed by the Board of Selectmen, who shall have the power to remove any member for cause.

3.      One (1) member of said Water Pollution Control Authority shall be appointed for a term of one (1) year; one (1) member shall be appointed for a term of two (2) years; one (1) member shall be appointed for a term of three (3) years; one (1) member shall be appointed for a term of four (4) years; one (1) member shall be appointed for a term of five (5) years.  The term of each member shall begin on the first Tuesday of August, 1959, and annually thereafter, one (1) member shall be appointed to serve for a term of five years from the date of his appointment and until his successor is appointed and has qualified.  Any vacancy in said Water Pollution Control Authority shall be filled by the Board of Selectmen for the unexpired term.  The Water Pollution Control Authority shall serve without compensation.
