NOTICE OF REFERENDUM/ADJOURNED VIRTUAL
ANNUAL TOWN BUDGET MEETING
APRIL 27, 2021
The referendum for the electors and citizens qualified to vote in Town Meetings of the Town of Stonington on the first item of the warning of the Virtual Annual Town Budget meeting called for Monday, April 19, 2021 will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the following voting places:
FIRST AND THIRD DISTRICT Stonington Fire House, 100 Main St., Stonington
SECOND DISTRICT Former Pawcatuck Middle School, 40 Field St., Pawcatuck
FOURTH AND FIFTH DISTRICT B.F. Hoxie Fire House, 34 Broadway, Mystic
The referendum will be held pursuant to the provisions of Section 7-7 of the General Statutes of Connecticut.
Persons, noted electors of the Town of Stonington, being citizens of the United States, age 18 years or older, jointly or severally liable to the Town of Stonington for taxes on an assessment of not less than $1000 on the last completed grand list, desiring to vote pursuant to the provision of Section 7-6 of the General Statutes of Connecticut, shall vote in the First Voting District at the Stonington Fire Station, 100 Main St., Stonington. Absentee ballots will be available from the Town Clerk’s office during normal business hours beginning on Thursday, April 8, 2021.
The first item on the Annual Town Budget Meeting called for Monday, April 19, 2021 set forth in the warning of said meeting is as follows:
To appropriate sufficient sum or sums of money to carry on the various divisions of Town Government for the following purposes for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2021, all of which have been approved and recommended by the Board of Finance to the extent of the amount appearing opposite each (a copy of the detailed budget is available to view in the Town Clerk’s Office 152 Elm Street, Stonington, CT 06378 during normal business hours or online at www.stonington-ct.gov):

The Board of Finance’s recommended budget for Fiscal Year 2021-2022 carries a 23.85 mil rate. Of the above budget, the amount to be raised by taxes is $67,410,306.
“SHALL THE TOWN OF STONINGTON MAKE APPROPRIATIONS IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF $73,136,531 FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1, 2021?”
Those voting in favor of said item will vote “YES”, and those voting against said item will vote “NO”.
The Monday, April 19, 2021 Virtual Annual Town Budget Meeting will then reconvene virtually on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at 8:30 p.m. to consider and record the vote. The meeting will be held virtually through the WebEx platform. Residents can join via computer using the link provided below or through audio on a phone line. The meeting will also be streamed to the Town of Stonington’s Facebook page.
