                        Stonington Registrars Announce 2024 Polling Places
and Early Voting Schedules

Stonington (July 9, 2024) – The Stonington Registrar of Voters have designated polling places for the August Republican Primary and the November Presidential Election. Early voting locations for both have also been designated.

Early voting for the Republican U.S. Senate primary is August 5-11. Early voting will take place in the Town Hall conference room. The address is 152 Elm St. The hours for early voting are:

  • Monday, Aug. 5: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Aug. 6: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Aug. 7: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Thursday, Aug. 8: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Friday, Aug. 9: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday, Aug. 10: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Sunday, Aug. 11: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The full day of voting for the primary is Tuesday, Aug. 13. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. The polling locations are:

  • District 1: Stonington Borough Firehouse, 100 Main St., Stonington
  • District 2: Former Pawcatuck Middle School, 40 Field St., Pawcatuck (please note room change in the middle school, polling will be in the Bd. of Education District Office board room. Follow the signs from the rear parking lot)
  • District 3: Community Room, St. Michael Church, 60 Liberty St., Pawcatuck
  • District 4: Stonington Middle School, 204 Mistuxet Ave., Mystic
  • District 5: Former Board of Education building, 49 North Stonington Road, Old Mystic.

Absentee ballots for the August primary will be available from the Town Clerk’s office beginning Tuesday, July 23.

Early voting for the Presidential Election is Oct. 21 through Nov. 3. It will be held in the Community Room in the Stonington Police Department, 173 South Broad St., Pawcatuck. The hours are:

  • Monday, Oct. 21: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 22: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 23: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Thursday, Oct. 24: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Friday, Oct. 25: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday, Oct 26: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Sunday, Oct. 27: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Monday Oct. 28: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 29: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 30: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Thursday, Oct. 31: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Friday, Nov. 1: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday, Nov. 2: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Sunday, Nov. 3: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

New Voter Registration

Any U.S citizen 18 years or older and a bona fide resident of this town is eligible to vote.  If you are 17 years old, but will be 18 years old by the November election day, you may “pre-register” and you will become a voter on Election Day.

Register in person at the Registrars Office or at the Town Clerk’s office at your local Town Hall, during normal business hours, before the October deadline for eligibility in the November election.

Mail-in registration cards may be obtained at various public locations such as libraries, schools, Department of Motor Vehicles, or Town Offices.  Completed mail-in registration cards must be post-marked by the October deadline for eligibility in the November election.


New Voter Registration Exceptions to Deadline

Any person who achieves the following status on or after the October deadline may register to vote in the November election:

  • Reach 18 years of age
  • Become a naturalized citizen
  • Become a resident in the town where the election is taking place
