Board and Commission Meetings: COVID-19 Update

Considerations for Virtual and In-Person Meetings

We wanted to share an update on the status of Board and Commission meetings. To ensure fair access to information and the safety of our community, we are recommending that most meetings continue virtually at this time.

With that said, we know some Boards and Commissions consistently have no, or very few, members of the public attend. As such, as long the State’s guidelines are followed, which include maintaining six feet spacing, wearing masks and proper cleaning can be arranged, certain Boards and Commissions may move forward with an in-person option. However, we are asking that any in-person meeting still provide a dial-in option so we are not unfairly limiting public participation in public meetings for those at higher risk for COVID-19.

We are continuing to working with our more than 30 Board and Commission to update the Town calendar to reflect the current status of all meetings.  Thank you for your patience as we work through this challenging time. If you have questions on an upcoming meeting, please call us in the First Selectman’s office (860-535-5050) and we are happy to help provide the most updated information we have, in case it has not yet made its way to the calendar.

Thank you again so much for working with us during this challenging new time- and thank you for staying engaged.
