Online Survey and Public Workshop in support of Zoning Update

The Town of Stonington is pleased to announce that an online survey is now available. The survey will provide residents and stakeholders an opportunity to express their thoughts surrounding the regulation of land use and development in the Town. The survey will remain open for the rest of the year. It can be accessed from the following link and on the Town’s website: www.surveymonkey.com/r/stoningtonzoning

In addition to the survey, the Town will conduct a series of workshops. The first workshop is on issues surrounding sustainability, resilience, and the protection of environmental resources. The workshop is aimed at identifying participants’ concerns and ideas surrounding these issues as related to the Town’s zoning regulations. The workshop will be conducted on Tuesday, November 28th, at 6:00 pm at the Board of Education Building, 40 Field Street, Pawcatuck.

The workshop is the first of several workshops planned in support of the Town’s update of its zoning regulations. The update is being led by the Town’s Planning Department and Planning and Zoning Commission. Having recently adopted a first phase of updates to the Town’s zoning regulations, the Commission is seeking to make more substantial amendments to the regulations to better address issues surrounding sustainability, resilience, environmental protection, housing, commercial development, and other items regulated by zoning.

The workshop will be about two hours in duration and will be comprised of a brief presentation by the Town’s consultant, FHI Studio, followed by break-out group discussions.
