ATTENTION: BOARD OF FINANCE REQUESTS YOUR INVOLVEMENT
The Town of Stonington Board of Finance (BoF) is providing summary information for the proposed Fiscal Year 2024/2025 Municipal and Education Budgets as represented below. This version represents the proposed budget that has been provided by the First Selectman to the Board of Finance for discussion and is not final. You can find the proposed detailed budget book on the Town’s website along with the calendar for all budget related meetings .
As currently proposed, the Mill Rate would rise from 17.45 to 19.45, a percentage increase of 11.46% or an increase of $200.00 for every $100,000 of assessed property value. You can find your assessed value on the Town’s GIS website. To calculate property tax, you can use the Town’s Tax Calculator found here, or divide the assessed value by 1,000 and multiply the resulting number by the Mill Rate.
The Board of Finance publicly reviews all budget requests. Following the Board of Finance deliberations, a revised budget will be posted before the March 26 Public Hearing. We are seeking public participation by email at BoF@stonington-ct.gov, letter, or comment at the public hearing in advance of the referendum. Please note that public comments will only be permitted at the Public Hearing because of time constraints. The BoF looks forward to collaborating with Municipal and BoE leadership to best serve Town of Stonington residents and taxpayers.
