The Town of Stonington is looking for someone who is willing to donate their time and equipment to assist in creating video segments that will feature interviews with local veterans. This is part of our Stonington Veterans Monument project.

The concept for the Monument is to honor the service of all military Veterans who have served our country from the Town of Stonington since WWI. The monument will feature a new technology that will allow visitors to obtain access to a dedicated website that will feature the names of over 7,000 local veteran, as well as videos of veterans sharing pieces of their personal stories. The interviews will explore topics such as the concept of service, the transition to civilian life, and local insights to pivotal moments in our history.

At this time, we are looking for people who may be interested in donating their time to video and edit the interviews, or if time is limited, editing only. We are looking to do these interviews over the next three months. Please know, the First Selectman's Office will be working to arrange the interviews and logistics, and will work in close partnership to support the work needed to create the final videos.

To submit please include:

  • Your name and contact information.
  • A written narrative explaining why you are interested.
  • Examples of previous works are also appreciated.

The deadline for submission is November 11, 2022 at 4pm.  For more information, contact the First Selectman’s Office via 860-535-5050; or email Stacey Haskell at shaskell@stonington-ct.gov.
