Ways to Help in Ukraine

Dear Stonington,

As we watch, read, listen and learn about the events unfolding an ocean away from our homes in Stonington, I know many of us want to do something to help.

The military offensive in Ukraine has caused destruction of civilian infrastructure and civilian casualties and has forced people to flee their homes seeking safety, protection and assistance. In the first week, more than a million refugees from Ukraine crossed borders into neighboring countries. As of March 8, 2022 over 2 million refugees have had to flee their homes. In a country of over 44 million people, many more are on the move both inside and outside the country. They are in need of protection and support.

Below you can find a non-exhaustive list of organizations that are asking for assistance. Donations can be made through the links to their websites or social media pages.

We also have an opportunity for kids in Stoningotn to help children leaving Ukraine. A small, local fundraiser is taking place this month. Please read more here

Thank you, Danielle Chesebrough, Stonington First Selectman
